The school has been operating from Sunrising Riding Centre for the last 22 years.

It is one of only two British Horse Society Approved Training Establishments in Cornwall (apart from the Duchy College) which means it is approved to train the riding instructors of the future and prepare them for their examinations, the passing of which will enable them to become qualified instructors. This assures potential clients that the standard of teaching will be high, the horses and ponies well trained and top priority given to all aspects of health and safety. Senior Instructor Claire Graves competes in Dressage at National level (see photo) on "Apollo" owned by Chief Instructor Mary Tyrrell. A "Working Pupil" scheme is in operation, for full details, see our web site.

The school is fortunate to be situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor which means that road work is minimal, most riding out being done well away from traffic of any kind, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.

For those who are not experienced riders, a "Tourist Package" is offered, which consists of Individual tuition in a manege (sand enclosure) for about half an hour, followed by about an hour riding out on the Bodmin Moor. For experienced riders hacks of one or two hours are available, as are lessons in the various disciplines e.g. dressage, jumping etc. One needs to book beforehand, by ringing (01579) 362895, preferably between 7pm. and 8pm, with details of the riders, e.g. height, weight (we have a maximum weight limit of 14 stone (90 kgs.) and experience.

In addition to hourly lessons and rides out, residential instructional riding holidays are available for unaccompanied teenagers. There is also limited adult accommodation, but as there is no public transport available in the area, personal transport is strongly recommended!

All food is locally sourced and tastefully prepared. Vegetarian options are available.

A colour brochure is available on request, with a tariff/booking form - just call or email.

After a recent inspection, Mrs. Jane Goldsmith F.B.H.S., commented "This is a caring school where pupils are well taught and looked after."
