The museum shows life in North Cornwall 50 - 100 years ago. The gallery has exhibitions by local artists and craftsmen.
Opened in 1974, this privately-owned award winning museum is set in a building that was orginally used for making coaches and wagons. The museum covers many aspect of everday life in North Cornwall from fifty to a hundred years ago. These include farming, the dairy, cidermaking and wagons. A special feature is the reconstruction of what the inside of a moorland cottage would have looked like. There are sections on the tools of various trades
such as the carpenter,cooper, blacksmith, saddler, cobbler, tailor,printer, doctor, granite and slate quarryman. There is a large display of Cornish bricks, Cornish and Devonshire pottery including cloam ovens. On the domestic side there are lace bonnets ,clothes, neadlework tools, early vacuum cleaners, laundry and cooking utensils.
The gallery has changing exhibitions by a wide range of local artists and craftsmen.
