Behind the moorland village of Minions, on the south-eastern edge of Bodmin Moor, Minions Heritage Centre is unusually located in a Cornish engine house.
The centre, within the Houseman's Shaft engine house at South Phoenix Mine, has recently reopened following the installation of new visitor interpretation facilities.
Part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site’s £2.5 million Discover the Extraordinary Project, the Minions Heritage Centre highlights the wealth of archaeology, ecology and mining heritage of the Caradon Hill area of Bodmin Moor.
The centre interprets the history of the landscape from the Stone Age, through the eighteenth and nineteenth century mining to the present day, providing information to the visitors to the area.
The centre is a free entry site located on the outskirts of Minions village and is a great introduction to the moor and the Caradon area of the World Heritage Site.
The centre is open all year round and admission is free.
