After taking a year out to drive to India and back in '69/'70 I came to Cornwall where I worked as a commercial photographer near St Ives. In 1982, itchy feet got the better of me again and I set off yet again, with my wife to drive from top to bottom of the American continents. As fate would have it, the Falklands war intervened and to cut a long story short we became restaurateurs of one sort or another for the next twenty or so years.
Photography has always been a love but, with the arrival of the computer, for the last ten years I have concentrated on my own personal interpretations of my photographs.
Both travel and photography have played a very large part of my life. Different peoples and different places have always fascinated me. Couple this with the genes of a portuguese great grandmother and my love of colour and form, both of which are very important to me, may be explained. I have tried to exploit this in my images and provide a "painterly" feel to my work.
The coming of age of the digital revolution has enabled me to combine both the scientific and artistic elements of my life. Use of the computer gives me great satisfaction as it allows me the freedom to interpret the picture in many different ways.
