Cornwall Search and Rescue Team is a local registered charity (no 1100708) that provides an inland voluntary search and rescue service providing assistance to lost, missing or injured people across Cornwall. The team is made up of over 40 volunteers who are available day and night to respond to incidents, and it is the official Mountain Rescue (England and Wales) team for Bodmin Moor.

"Generally speaking, we try and fill the gaps that the other services can't really do, and we can be called upon by all of them 24 hours a day. Sometimes that will involve going into a mine working to provide medical assistance to a casualty alongside the fire brigade, or it could be to use our techniques, equipment and research to search for a lost or missing person. The ambulance service could call us to help with getting someone to safety or a local farmer could need help getting a sheep off a quarry ledge or mineshaft".

"All of this is provided by 40+ volunteers, with very understanding partners and employers, and little or no life outside of the team. None of the funds needed to run the team, which is a registered charity, comes from the government but instead from tin rattling and voluntary public donations".

So if you see us on the moor, have a think about what we could be up to, rescuing, searching or just training. Better still come up and ask, or even join the team. Just don't forget to chuck a couple of pennies in the tin!

In an EMERGENCY - dial 999 and ask the police for Mountain Rescue.
