Carnglaze Bluebell WoodCarnglaze Concerts Image 3

One of the coolest places to visit in the West!

If you are too hot and need a cool place to go, look no further than Carnglaze where the woods are shaded from the intense heat and the caverns themselves only ever get a whiff of high temperatures as they remain at a crisp 10˚C. OR if the rain has dampened your spirits and you need somewhere dry then underground is the place to be!

You can tour three gigantic caverns; you can wander around the 6.5 acres of woodland with an Enchanted Dell filled with faeries, guarded by loyal dragons and home to hobbits and other wondrous woodland creatures! Carnglaze is fun for all the family all year round but especially cool in the summer! Yes at Carnglaze they not only supply shelter from the rain but also a welcome relief from eagerly awaited heat waves! Open Mondays to Saturdays all year, do take a picnic and make a day of it!

Carnglaze also plays host to an excellent line up of musicians, is a licensed Wedding venue and great for children's birthday parties!

Open 10am till 5pm (8pm during August).

  • During the Second World War, the Royal Navy used the first of three caverns at Carnglaze to store its supply of rum.  In 2001 it was converted into an auditorium, with seating for 400. The slate walls and roof form a stunning backdrop for performances, making this a unique venue.  Due to the shape and height of the cavern, the acoustics are outstanding and are acclaimed by many of the international performers who have been to Carnglaze (The Rum Store).
